Stalled college building to resume construction soon, says Kalyan

Chandigarh: Haryana legislative assembly speaker Harvinder Kalyan and education minister Mahipal Dhanda conducted a surprise inspection of the Govt College for Women in Gharaunda, Bastara, on Saturday. During an hour-long interaction with students to assess campus needs, officials assured them that construction on the long-delayed college building will resume soon following the resolution of a court stay.Students flagged crucial infrastructure gaps and academic requirements while offering suggestions to improve learning environments. Speaker Kalyan assured students that essential facilities would be prioritised, emphasising the role of campus libraries in providing rural students with a quiet study environment. He stated that direct student feedback will help the govt frame targeted, need-based interventions.Education minister Mahipal Dhanda outlined broader policy initiatives under the new education framework, announcing state plans to establish libraries in every village to support rural learners. He disclosed that the govt aims to sign nearly 2,000 MoUs with corporate firms to boost campus placements and employment opportunities across colleges and technical institutes.Addressing regulatory oversight, Dhanda confirmed that a meeting was recently held in Chandigarh with managements of unrecognised private schools, directing them to fix operational deficiencies to safeguard educational standards and student welfare.
