Chandigarh: All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary and Punjab in-charge Sachin Pilot will undertake a five-day yatra across Punjab from Oct 16 to 20 to meet families of victims of gangster violence and hear their grievances over law and order. The yatra will cover Moga, Bathinda, Mansa, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran and Amritsar. Pilot will visit bereaved families, offer condolences and hear their accounts of the crimes and the police and state govt’s response.According to Congress, several killings have been claimed by or linked to organised gangs, while some families have waited months or years for arrests, chargesheets or a fair trial. The party said it would raise the families’ demands with the public and state govt and pursue legal remedies where necessary. Pilot will also highlight what Congress describes as a deterioration in Punjab’s law and order, arguing that it has undermined the AAP govt’s moral authority to remain in office.
