Ludhiana: Railway authorities recovered ₹95,000 in revenue after catching more than 100 ticketless commuters during a surprise checking drive at the Ludhiana railway station on Tuesday.The joint campaign was conducted by a 10-member ticket checking team alongside Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel to curb ticketless travel, protect revenue, and ensure passenger convenience. Offending passengers were counselled on responsible travel practices and encouraged to buy valid tickets before boarding.Senior divisional commercial manager (DCM) Basant Kumar urged passengers to always travel with valid tickets and occupy coaches designated for their ticketed class, adding that similar surprise inspections would continue.In a separate incident during duty at the station’s ticket inspector office, checking staff member Amanpreet Singh helped two foreign tourists recover seven bags, three laptops, passports, and essential documents left behind on the Amarpali Express.Singh alerted on-board checking staff and the commercial control Room at Ferozepur, coordinating with RPF personnel at Sirhind station to secure the valuables. He directed the tourists to take the Pathankot-Delhi Superfast Express to Sirhind, where RPF officers handed over their belongings after verification. The tourists thanked the staff for their prompt intervention.
