Lucknow: Located in Baroodkhana, SA Apartment was declared unsafe for occupation following a structural safety audit commissioned by the Lucknow Development Authority. The agency conducting the audit has recommended demolition of the building after a portion of it tilted on Sep 28.Located at Krishna Kunj, Baroodkhana, under Wazirganj police station limits, the building developed structural distress when one side tilted, raising concerns over the safety of residents and people in the surrounding area.Taking up the matter on priority, the LDA engaged QA Testing Laboratories Pvt Ltd to assess the building’s structural stability. On Sep 28, the authority arranged temporary jacking support on the agency’s recommendation as an immediate measure to stabilise the structure.The agency subsequently conducted non-destructive testing to assess the building’s structural strength. According to its final report, the apartment was found unsafe for occupation and demolition was recommended.An LDA official said after the safety audit the building is declared unsafe for residents. Action will be taken as per the authority’s law. Residents were advised to evacuate the building until further notice.The structural assessment followed the incident on Sep 28, when a portion of the apartment tilted. The LDA arranged temporary support on the same day and subsequently commissioned technical tests to determine whether the building could be safely occupied.
