Ludhiana: Four months after a Chandigarh Road resident allegedly consumed poison and later died during treatment, Moti Nagar police have registered a case against five persons on charges of abetment to suicide and criminal conspiracy following an enquiry. The deceased, Kulwinder Singh of Vardhman Park, allegedly consumed a poisonous substance at a restaurant near Cheema Chowk on June 23 and died at a private hospital on June 28.Based on a complaint lodged by his brother, Kanwaljeet Singh, police booked Satish Juneja, Anoop Behal, Deepika Kohri, Neeraj Attar and Rajneesh Kaur, all residents of Banda Bahadar Nagar.Kanwaljeet alleged that a suicide note recovered from Kulwinder’s car held the accused responsible for driving him to take the extreme step. The accused allegedly misused the cheques, causing him financial losses.Following the enquiry, police registered a case under Sections 108 (abetment to suicide) and 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) of the BNS.
