3 injured after portion of shed collapses at Lucknow’s Charbagh railway station

LUCKNOW: A portion of the shed at platform 5 of Lucknow’s Charbagh railway station collapsed on Friday morning around 8 am, injuring at least two passengers and a train ticket examiner (TTE). The incident occurred even as the station is undergoing redevelopment by the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA). According to officials, the shed that collapsed had already been marked for removal as part of the ongoing modernization work.Despite this, platform 5 remained open for passenger movement, while the adjacent platform 4 had been closed due to redevelopment activities. The injured passengers along with others were waiting for Howrah-Doon express (13037) at the platform 5.Senior divisional commercial manager of Northern Railway’s Lucknow division, Samarth Gupta, confirmed that all three injured individuals are stable and safe after receiving prompt medical attention. He added that railway authorities have ordered a probe to determine the exact cause of the collapse and to assess whether safety protocols were adequately followed during the redevelopment process.Operations at the station continued with caution as officials inspected nearby structures to rule out further risks.
