Bengaluru: A 34-year-old social activist approached police alleging she was subjected to abusive messages, threats and online harassment after she uploaded a video about the seizure of an Android mobile phone from rape convict and former MP Prajwal Revanna at Central Prison. The complainant said after she posted the video on her Facebook page, she began receiving a barrage of threatening messages on both Facebook Messenger and Instagram from unknown persons using fake or suspicious accounts. She alleged the harassers falsely claimed she had made comments against Union minister HD Kumaraswamy even though she hadn’t in the video.Adding to her concerns, the woman said her Facebook account was hacked a few days earlier. She requested police to identify the persons operating suspicious accounts and trace those responsible for the alleged threats and hacking.
