Lucknow: Police detained three people and launched a search for others after a bull was found slaughtered inside a defunct rice mill in the Thakurganj area in the early hours of Thursday, officials said.An FIR has been registered at Thakurganj police station against unidentified persons under relevant provisions of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Uttar Pradesh Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act.Police said a patrol team received information around 11 pm that a bull had been slaughtered inside the abandoned Krishna Agrawal Rice Mill in New Haiderganj. When officers reached the site, they found the carcass with its throat slit and the body mutilated.The discovery drew a large crowd to the area, after which additional police personnel were deployed to maintain law and order.During a search of the premises, police recovered a blood-stained cleaver, an axe, a blood-stained T-shirt, a pair of slippers and three plastic sacks, which investigators believe were intended for transporting the remains. A forensic team inspected the spot, collected samples and documented the scene.A veterinary doctor conducted a post-mortem examination, and the carcass was later buried under police supervision.Investigators suspect the accused planned to transport and sell the animal remains illegally. CCTV footage from nearby areas and forensic evidence are being examined to identify all those involved.Station house officer Omveer Singh Chauhan said the detained suspects are being questioned, and police presence has been maintained in the area as a precaution.
