Over 200 students, staff join PAU’s anti-drug rally

Ludhiana: Over 200 students and staff members participated in an anti-drug awareness march across the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) campus.Organised by the directorate of students’ welfare, the rally was held under the central govt’s NCORD mechanism and the Punjab govt’s ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign to combat substance abuse.The march was led by PAU vice-chancellor Dr Satbir Singh Gosal and director students’ welfare Dr KS Suri, alongside other university officials. The event concluded with the faculty and student body taking a collective pledge to maintain a vigilant, drug-free campus.Addressing the gathering, Gosal called university life a golden chapter that must be guarded for academic excellence and career building. Warning against addiction, he said, “Drug abuse not only destroys an individual, it fractures families, drains societal resources, and ravages physical and mental health.” He urged the youth to stay focused on professional growth.Emphasising the power of community action, Suri encouraged the attendees to adopt wholesome, active lifestyles. He urged the students to step up their efforts not just as simple participants, but as “true ambassadors of the anti-drug movement” within the university.
