Bathinda cops file case over graffiti eulogizing suicide bomber
Graffiti in support of Dilawar Singh at some places in Bathinda

Bathinda: The Bathinda Police was on its toes when it found graffiti in support of Dilawar Singh, who was the assassin of former chief minister Beant Singh, on the walls of a govt school, sports stadium and at other places in Bathinda district. One graffiti was spotted at the outer wall of the govt school of Naruna village near Bathinda, wherein it was mentioned “31 August Shaheed Dilawar Babbar Zindabad”. The police removed the graffiti at all the places and cases have been registered against unknown persons. The banned outfit, Sikhs For Justice, is learnt to be behind the graffiti at certain places in Bathinda.Dilwar Singh had acted as a suicide bomber who had blown up the bulletproof car at Punjab Civil Secretariat at Chandigarh, wherein the then chief minister Beant Singh and 17 other persons were killed on Aug 31, 1995.Bathinda Rural DSP Harwinder Singh Sra said, “Some slogans were found written in Naruana, Jai Singh Wala villages and another place. The slogans, which seem to have been written with the motive to cause unrest, have been removed and cases have been registered”.
