Gorakhpur: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate the newly constructed state-run women’s shelter home in Gorakhpur on Wednesday.Built by the Women Welfare Department near Agriculture department’s seed warehouse at Chargawan, the women’s shelter home has been constructed at a cost of Rs8.05 crore. The facility has a capacity to accommodate 100 women and is equipped with residential and support infrastructure, including 10 dormitories, four study rooms, a patient room, crèche, dining hall, kitchen, store, toilets and bathrooms. It also houses a workshop, a warden’s room, an office and a library.Officials said the shelter home is a protective residential institution aimed at providing safe accommodation, care and support to women affected by domestic violence, social distress, abandonment or other difficult circumstances.During the visit, he will also inspect the under-construction Observation Home for juveniles, being built in the same area at a cost of Rs14.87 crore. The facility, with a capacity of 100 juveniles, will also house a separate block for the Juvenile Justice Board.The project is expected to be completed by Feb 2027.According to officials, the observation home is being developed to provide a safe, child-friendly and rehabilitative environment for juveniles in conflict with law, with provisions for education, healthcare, psychosocial support, skill development and rehabilitation.The CM will also attend the inaugural session of a seven-day ‘Shrimad Bhagwat Katha’ at Gorakhnath Temple. The programme is being organised to mark the 57th death anniversary of Brahmaleen Mahant Digvijaynath and the 12th death anniversary of Brahmaleen Mahant Avaidyanath. Vrindavan-based preacher Rajendra Das, head of Malook Peeth, will deliver the discourse.
