23 cattle battling lumpy skin disease at Hisar isolation centre, 7 die

Hisar: A temporary isolation centre set up near Radha Swami Ashram on Kamry Road, Hisar, for cattle suffering from lumpy skin disease (LSD) has so far received 23 animals, seven of which have died, according to Gau Raksha Sangathan national president Rajpal.He clarified that the figures relate only to animals brought to this centre, and there is no consolidated data available on LSD cases or deaths at other locations in Hisar city and district. Rajpal said the centre has treated 11 heifers, four cows and eight bulls, with three heifers, two cows and two bulls dying so far.The centre came up after a sick heifer found on Kamry Road on Sept 18 could not be taken away by gaushala ambulances, according to Rajpal. He and other members of the organisation then approached a social worker, who provided land for a a temporary facility.Veterinary surgeon Dr Rajat is providing free services there. According to Rajpal, cattle suffering from LSD were subsequently brought to the centre from several areas between Sept 19 and Oct 2.
