Goa police get two fast patrol boats to strengthen coastal security
The boats will have a service life of 10 years, allowing for 1,000 running hours of average annual usage, subject to adherence to the equipment maintenance schedule

Panaji: Goa police have received two 15m fast patrol boats to strengthen coastal security at Rs 3 crore. At present, only one operational 15m fast interceptor boat, ‘Chandreshwar’, is available for patrolling with the coastal security police.DGP Alok Kumar said the vessels would be first put on trial, and as soon as possible they would be inducted into the force.“The fast interceptor boats will be used for patrolling along the state’s coastline, covering the jurisdiction of coastal security police stations in accordance with the weekly patrolling pattern drawn by the police department,” a senior police officer said.Goa police invited bidders to construct the fast patrol boat on Friday.The successful bidder shall provide five days of training to 10 personnel from Goa police on operation and first-line maintenance in Goa.
