Bengaluru: Whitefield police conducted a raid on a textile store for allegedly selling fake Louis Vuitton products and indulging in cheating the company and buyers.A complaint has been filed against a store accused of selling counterfeit products, raising concerns over the infringement of the luxury brand’s intellectual property rights.The complainant, Francis Paul, an operations manager at a Mumbai-based company authorised as a representative of LV, stated that during a market survey conducted around 1.30pm on Sept 28, counterfeit LV products were found being sold at Brand International store, located at Arya Hub commercial complex near Hope Farm, Whitefield.The counterfeit products included men’s shoes, ladies’ handbags, men’s innerwear, socks, shawls and shirts. A visit to the premises on the same day confirmed the store was stocking, selling and supplying fake LV products.The complaint alleges that the sale of such counterfeit products amounts to infringement of the intellectual property rights of LV and could cause significant damage to the company’s goodwill and reputation.A case was registered under the Copyright Act and for cheating under the BNS, and a raid was conducted on the same day.A senior officer said a person named Ravi in the store told them that the store was owned by his brother, Basavaraj, who was out of station. Ravi allegedly confessed that they had been selling the products, sourced from Delhi through agents, for the last two months.Products of other brands were also found during the raid. A notice has been served on the accused, and further investigation is in progress.
