Gurgaon: Five persons were arrested on Thursday for allegedly trying to abduct a man at gunpoint from Galleria Market on Sept 21. The accused were identified as Praveen, Sumer Singh, Shiv Shankar, Aman and Hemant.“The victim had parked his car at Galleria Market and gone to a café. When he returned and was about to get into the car, Shiv Shankar allegedly occupied the front seat, while Aman and Hemant got into the rear seats. Shiv Shankar allegedly pointed a pistol at the victim and ordered him to drive with them,” an officer said. When the victim resisted, the accused allegedly tried to fire at him, but the weapon did not discharge. “The victim then drove the car forward, following which the two men in the back seat jumped out and fled. A short distance ahead, the victim had to stop after a scooty came in front of his car. Taking advantage of this, the man in the front seat also escaped, leaving the country-made pistol inside the car,” the officer added. The victim approached Sector 29 police the next day, following which a case was registered.Crime Branch Sector 43 arrested the five accused on Oct 1. Police said the conspiracy stemmed from a property deal between Praveen and the victim’s father.A senior officer said, “Praveen had entered into a property deal with the victim’s father, who later entered into a deal for the same property with another person. Angry over the development, Praveen allegedly discussed the matter with his associate Sumer Singh. The two then planned to abduct the victim and use him to pressure his father to either revive the deal or pay them money.”
