Panaji: Restoration of the Saptakoteshwar temple and Koti Tirtha tank will begin on Friday under the Koti Tirtha Corridor Development Project. A programme featuring mahabhishek, udakshanti and Mandovi panchganga aarti will be held at Pornem Tirth, Divar, in the presence of chief minister Pramod Sawant and Union minister of state Shripad Naik. Sawant said extra ferry services will operate for devotees travelling to Divar Island.Divar-Narve was once an ancient pilgrimage centre at a sacred river confluence. Koti Tirtha was ringed by 108 devakoshtas. Portuguese rule from 1510 damaged traditions, but faith endured and the pilgrimage continued at Narve. Shivaji restored the temple in 1668.
