Panaji: Consumers will receive a reimbursement of Rs 3,000 for the cost of three LPG cylinders directly in their bank accounts by Sep 10, chief minister Pramod Sawant said on Thursday.Later in the day, he also announced that he will launch the Goa Ujwala Yojana through an online interactive programme with people across Goa on Sep 5. He said govt has made a provision of Rs 100 crore for the scheme.Sawant said LPG and PNG connection users will benefit from this scheme. He added that there is no income limit to availing the scheme. “We wanted to provide relief from price rise to our sisters prior to Ganesh Chaturthi,” said Sawant.He added that over three lakh connection holders are set to benefit from the scheme. Only one gas connection per house will be able to avail the benefit.Speaking at Nuvem, Sawant said forms for the LPG scheme would be available at panchayats and with MLAs from Sep 5 to 9. Applicants will have to submit copies of their bank passbook, LPG cylinder booklet, Aadhaar card, and voter ID.“Govt had promised in 2022 that if I become CM again, I will give three cylinders free in a year. On Sep 5, we will make the forms available for free cylinders with panchayats and MLAs. Forms will be filled through MLAs.By 10th of the month, you will directly get Rs 3,000 in your account for three LPG cylinders you have paid. We have decided,” said Sawant.With the 2027 assembly elections approaching, Sawant said govt had fulfilled every promise it had made.He inaugurated underground cabling works in Betalbatim, Majorda, Utorda and Calata and handed over 100 sanad certificates and documents under the 20-point programme to beneficiaries of the Mhaje Ghar Scheme.Nuvem MLA Alexio Sequeira also distributed 5,000 water tanks to households in the constituency.Sawant said Sequeira was the first MLA to focus on water security at the household level by providing water tanks and urged constituents to support him in the upcoming elections.
