Dhubri: Kokrajhar police seized cannabis worth Rs 1 crore from a truck at Srirampur check gate on the Assam-West Bengal border and arrested two persons.Police said 203 packets of suspected cannabis were found concealed beneath a consignment of bamboo in a truck bearing an Uttar Pradesh registration in Gossaigaon subdivision.The truck was allegedly carrying the contraband from Tezpur in Assam to Muzaffarpur in Bihar.The driver and co-driver were arrested and identified as Ramlakhan Rajbhar and Manoj Chauhan, both residents of Bira village in Uttar Pradesh’s Mau district.Simultapu police station officer-in charge said the consignment was being transported across the border.“The ganja was concealed beneath the bamboo load. During the checking, our personnel detected the concealed packets and recovered 203 packets,” he added.Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the source of the contraband and identify others allegedly involved in the trafficking network.
