Food order mix-up: Customer in Bengaluru alleges staffer hit him with iron rod on head

Bengaluru: A dispute over wrong food delivery turned violent after a customer claimed he was assaulted by a staff member and struck on the head with an iron rod, leaving him hospitalised.According to the complaint, Siddhartha Shaurya, 33, a private firm employee who underwent treatment as an inpatient at a private hospital, had ordered vegetarian garlic bread and veg taco Mexicana from the Domino’s outlet around 12.55pm on July 4. However, he alleged that the outlet delivered a non-vegetarian taco Mexicana.Siddhartha, accompanied by his brother-in-law Kushagra, returned the food and went to the outlet to complain. While questioning the staff, an argument broke out. Siddhartha alleged that the staff behaved aggressively, slapped him on the face, and when he questioned their behaviour, a staff member at the main counter allegedly picked up an iron rod and struck him on the head with full force. He also claimed that he lost consciousness immediately after the blow.Kushagra, with the help of passersby, shifted him to safety. Bystanders restrained the accused staff member and alerted police by calling the emergency helpline. Police reached the spot and advised the injured man to seek immediate medical treatment.In his complaint, Siddhartha stated he does not know the accused personally, but heard other employees referring to him as Srinivas. Based on his complaint, Whitefield police have registered a case under BNS Section 118 (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means).A senior officer said the staff at the outlet has also filed a counter complaint. Notices have been served on the outlet staff, and an investigation is in progress.
