Two men on cycles killed by trucks in separate hit and runs

Gurgaon: A 55-year-old security guard returning home from work on his cycle was killed in a hit-and-run when a speeding vehicle hit him near Hero Honda Chowk early Saturday morning.The deceased Islam Khan belonged to Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh and was a resident of Naharpur Rupa. Khan worked as a security guard at Bestech Tower in Sector 34 and was returning home after completing his duty.Islam’s son Mohd Taslim Khan said, “We received a call from a Blinkit delivery partner that my father had met with an accident. We rushed to the spot and took him to the hospital and informed the police.”The police said that the impact had left him seriously injured and he was declared dead when he was taken to the hospital.The circumstances of the crash are being examined, including the movement of the vehicle involved and the sequence of events leading to the collision.“The vehicle involved in the crash had not been identified at the time of registration of the case,” the officer added.An FIR has been registered at Sector 37 police station under BNS sections related to rash driving and causing death by negligence. Police are now working to identify the vehicle and its driver.In another hit-and-run, a man aged around 50 years on a cycle was killed when a truck allegedly travelling on the wrong side of the road hit him head-on on the service lane of Dwarka Expressway in Bajghera on Sunday night.According to a passer-by, the cyclist was heading towards Gurgaon when the collision took place, throwing him on the road. One of the truck’s wheels ran over his leg, leaving him critically injured.Police from Bajghera station were alerted and took him to a hospital, where he was declared dead and the body was sent for post-mortem.The man’s identity has not been established yet. Police found a security agency’s visiting card in his pocket, suggesting his place of employment. Efforts are underway to establish his identity and trace his family.Police have seized the truck, and eyewitness accounts are being examined to establish the driver’s identity, after which a case will be registered.
