Gurgaon: A woman was robbed of her gold chain while returning home on Aug 12.The accused, who fled on a scooter, was later arrested. Police said he has 17 cases of cheating and theft registered against him in Delhi and Gurgaon.The woman told police that she was returning after dropping her child off at school in Sector 37C when a man riding a scooter approached her and allegedly brandished a knife at her. He then snatched her gold chain and fled from the spot.She approached Sector 10 police station on Aug 13, following which a case was registered under relevant sections. The Crime Branch Sector 10 team subsequently arrested the accused, identified as Digambar alias Kadar (45), a resident of Dharuhera in Rewari, from Khandsa Mandi on the same day.Police said the knife allegedly used in the robbery, the scooter, the snatched gold chain and a gold locket were recovered from his possession. The accused was produced before a court and sent to three-day police custody.“Digambar admitted to his involvement in two other snatching incidents in Gurgaon. We are investigating his role in the cases and examining his criminal record, which includes 17 cases related to cheating and theft registered in Delhi and Gurgaon,” a police officer said.Police said further investigation is underway to identify his involvement in other similar crimes.
