Varanasi: Achieving a major milestone in quality policing, the Chowk police station has become the first police station in the Varanasi Commissionerate to receive ISO-9001:2015 certification.The certification was awarded for meeting the prescribed quality standards during a third-party audit. The assessment covered several key areas, including prompt disposal of public complaints, systematic maintenance of records, visitor facilities, functioning of the women’s help desk, effective public communication, regular training of police personnel, law and order management, crime control, swift response to criminal incidents, time-bound complaint resolution and effective use of technological resources. The working of the police station was assessed continuously for three months by a third-party audit agency.Police commissioner Mohit Agrawal congratulated the officers and police personnel of Chowk police station and said that efforts would be made to bring other police stations up to similar quality standards.He conducted a detailed inspection of Chowk police station on Sunday and reviewed the arrangements at the office, malkhana, cyber help desk and Mission Shakti Centre.Police personnel at the Mission Shakti Centre were directed to conduct extensive awareness campaigns in schools, coaching institutes, hostels and other important public places and to spread awareness about Mission Shakti and emergency helpline numbers 112, 1090, 1076 and 1930.To strengthen security arrangements, the police commissioner emphasised the use of technological resources for crime prevention and detection and directed the police personnel to encourage citizens to install more CCTV cameras.Police personnel who were honoured with commendation certificates for excellent work and contribution to better policing were sub-inspector Mansi Verma, head constable Krishna Kumar Singh, constable Sunil Kumar, constable Divya Singh, constable Tejaswi Ojha and constable Prachi Shukla. Police Mitra Nidhi Dev Agrawal and volunteer Vijay Mishra were also honoured.
