Hyderabad: A 68-year-old vegetable seller bludgeoned his wife to death before dying by suicide at their house at Gottiparthi village of Tungaturthi mandal, Suryapet district, during the early hours of Thursday.The deceased were identified as K Satyanarayana (68) and his wife, K Kanaka Laxmi (60). According to Tungaturthi sub-inspector R Kranthi Kumar, the couple frequently argued over personal and financial issues.Satyanarayana and Laxmi earned their livelihood by procuring onions, garlic, ginger and turmeric from farmers and selling them from their home and in nearby villages.The couple is survived by three children.On Thursday morning, locals who visited the couple’s house to buy vegetables found the door locked from inside. After repeated phone calls to Satyanarayana went unanswered, they looked through a window and discovered the couple lying dead. They immediately alerted the police.Police rushed to the spot and summoned a forensic team to collect evidence. According to the police, Satyanarayana attacked Laxmi on the head with an iron rod before dying by suicide inside the house.“We suspect the couple had an argument during the night, following which Satyanarayana attacked his wife and later died by suicide,” the SI said.Police registered a case under Section 103 (1) (murder) of the BNS and 194 (suspicious death) of the BNSS and shifted the bodies for postmortem.
