Pune: A city-based citizens’ forum, Loudspeaker Virodhi Punekar Manch, has scheduled a protest at 5pm near the Jhansi Rani statue on Balgandharva Rangmandir Chowk on Sunday to demand action against alleged noise norms violations during Ganeshotsav.The forum has sought the release of noise-level measurement records, complaints about norm violations, and actions taken against such violations during Ganeshotsav. The forum alleged that the information has not been made public even two weeks after the immersion processions concluded on Sept 26.Citizen activist Mukund Kirdat said the forum submitted memorandums to the police, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) on Saturday, seeking details of the action taken against noise pollution violations.The forum has alleged that noise-level readings and details of action against violators were not adequately disclosed during the festival. It has called for stricter implementation of noise pollution regulations and relevant court directives ahead of upcoming festivals, including Navaratra and Diwali.
