Chennai: Tamil Maanila Congress president G K Vasan on Thursday supported chief minister C Joseph Vijay’s move to provide govt job for family members of Karur stampede victims. Vasan issued a statement saying that the decision of govt to provide govt jobs to the family members of the stampede victims should be viewed on humanitarian grounds and should not be linked with politics. Forty-one persons were killed in a political meeting, which was hitherto unheard of in Tamil Nadu, he said, adding that in the future, state govts should ensure the protection of people participating in political meetings, and political parties should follow SOPs.
