Lucknow: The UP State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) is gearing up to develop new industrial areas besides working to expand infrastructure in existing ones. As of now, there are 165 industrial areas across 17 districts.A decision to this effect was taken during the board’s annual meeting held on Monday. Additional chief secretary, infrastructure and industrial development, UP, Alok Kumar II convened the meeting as chairperson.Sources said that Rs 2,250 crore has been set aside for the purpose. A feasibility study to assess demand and land rates will be the next step.The allocation is part of UPSIDA’s Rs 8,000 crore annual budget for the 2026-27 financial year, which was also approved by the board.“The forward looking decision will pave the way for the establishment of new industrial townships, attract large-scale investments, promote balanced regional industrial development, and generate significant employment opportunities,” Kumar said in an official statement.Also, the board took several key decisions related to industrial development, infrastructure strengthening, investment promotion, and administrative reforms. It also approved the layout plans for the industrial areas at Katayi mill (Fatehpur), Sandhinawa industrial area, and Trishundi industrial area (Ayodhya).“Approval of these layouts will facilitate planned industrial development, systematic land use, faster plot allotment, and timely provision of infrastructure, thereby encouraging new investments and employment generation,” said Kumar.In another key decision, the board gave allottees of UPSIDA’s residential schemes a final opportunity to execute their lease deeds by Nov 7. “This is the last chance to settle the matter on payment of delayed fees. The board has also decided that in case the deadline is missed, the allocation will be automatically cancelled,” an official spokesperson said.The board also approved a proposal for framing a new resumption policy for closed (sick) industrial units.Kumar said: “The goal is to significantly accelerate the development of new industrial areas and expansion of existing ones. Priority will be given to strengthening roads, power supply, water supply, drainage systems, and other core infrastructure, enabling UPSIDA to provide world-class industrial facilities to investors and contribute significantly to the state’s economic growth.”
