Rajkot: A formal police complaint was lodged with Dhrangadhra Taluka police station after a five-year-old boy died after falling from a moving bus last week in Surendranagar’s Rajsitapur village on July 28.According to the police, the accident occurred around 7.15am near a petrol pump. The child, Divyaraj Solanki, suffered a severe head injury and died of a brain haemorrhage, according to the complaint.Divyaraj’s grandfather, 61-year-old Ghanshyamsinh Solanki, lodged a complaint against bus driver Ghanshyam Makwana and those responsible from Masoom Vidyalaya where the boy studied. Police registered an FIR under Sections 106(1) and 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and under the Motor Vehicles Act.According to the FIR, Divyaraj boarded the school bus as usual to go to Om Shanti Vidyalaya, also called Masoom Vidyalaya. While the bus was on its way to the school, the driver called the family and told them that Divyaraj had fallen from the vehicle.The family rushed to the hospital in Surendranagar, where doctors declared Divyaraj dead.During questioning, the driver told police he was travelling from Khambhada village towards Rajsitapur after picking up students when a floor panel of the bus suddenly came loose near the petrol pump. Divyaraj fell through the opening and onto the road.Police are investigating whether poor maintenance of the bus or lapses in safety procedures contributed to the accident.Divyaraj’s father, Mahendrasinh Solanki, serves with the Central Reserve Police Force in Jammu & Kashmir.
