TNNLucknow: Of its target to provide water through piped schemes to 2,67,20,000 households in 68 districts, the state govt has completed supply to 2.25 crore households.Besides, 98.50% of target households in nine districts of Vindhya and Bundelkhand regions have also been connected with functional household tap connections. Under the Har Ghar Jal Yojana, functional household tap connections have been provided to 100% households in 38,317 villages. Of these, over 28,309 villages have been certified as Har Ghar Jal by their respective gram panchayats.“Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, the state has set a target of laying approximately 5.64 lakh km of water distribution network. Against this target, more than 5.20 lakh km of pipeline have been laid so far. The benefits of the scheme are not limited to rural households. Clean drinking water supply has also been ensured in 1,16,340 schools across the state. This has enabled children studying in these institutions to access safe drinking water,” said a govt spokesperson.The official said that in addition to providing clean water, govt had also trained over five lakh rural women to test water quality. This has helped develop the capacity to assess drinking water quality at the village level while promoting greater participation and awareness among rural women, he added.
