Panaji: The crime branch of Goa police on Friday arrested the third accused from Delhi airport in connection with an alleged fake overseas job racket.SP crime branch Rahul Gupta said that 39-year-old, resident of Haryana, Harpreet Singh, was arrested in connection with the case.He said that investigation showed that Singh, along with his associates, entered into a criminal conspiracy to cheat and dishonestly induce victims from multiple states to part with their money on the false promise of providing jobs in Hong Kong and other countries.Gupta said that the accused allegedly acted as recruiting agents without possessing a valid registration certificate under the Emigration Act and trafficked the victims to various East Asian countries on tourist visas, thereby exposing them to exploitation instead of the promised jobs.Earlier, Ambar Sawant and Pankaj Naik, both residents of Goa, were arrested in the same case, the SP said.“Singh was apprehended at Delhi airport after we opened a Look Out Circular (LOC) against him,” Gupta said.Candidates should obtain overseas employment only through recruitment agencies registered under the Emigration Act and verify the credentials of such agencies before making any payments or accepting job offers, he said.
