Gurgaon: The district administration will hold a special two-day campaign on Aug 29 and 30 as part of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) phase 2 to update and streamline electoral rolls.Deputy commissioner and district election officer Uttam Singh urged residents to complete pending voter-related formalities and ensure their names and details are correctly reflected in the electoral roll.He said booth-level officers (BLOs) will remain available at designated offices to assist voters with registration and other electoral roll-related work. The exercise will include registration of new voters, collection of documents, disposal of pending cases, and online uploading of documents and information, officials said.The administration has particularly appealed to young people who have completed 18 years of age to register as voters. Singh said those who had attained the age of 18 years or above as on July 1, 2026, but had not yet registered as voters, could approach their respective BLOs with the required documents and get their names included in the electoral roll by Aug 30.The administration has also asked voters who have received notices from BLOs regarding incomplete documentation to submit the required documents within the stipulated period. Such residents can contact their nearest BLO during the special campaign and seek correction or updating of their electoral roll details.Singh said an accurate and updated electoral roll was essential for ensuring that every eligible citizen could participate in the democratic process. He appealed to residents to actively participate in the SIR exercise rather than wait for the revision process to conclude.“Awareness and cooperation of citizens are equally important for preparing an error-free and updated voter list,” he said, according to the district administration.He also directed assistant electoral registration officers (AEROs), electoral registration officers (EROs), supervisors and BLOs to work in coordination and accelerate the SIR Phase 2 exercise. Officials have been asked to complete all necessary procedures within the prescribed timelines.The administration said the special campaign would provide an opportunity for residents to address pending documentation issues, seek corrections in voter details and facilitate registration of eligible first-time voters.
