Chandigarh: Two snatching incidents were reported in the city on September 9, leaving a visitor robbed of ₹20,000 and a local woman without her gold chain. The Chandigarh Police have registered separate FIRs under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched probes into both cases.In the first case, 32-year-old Bilal Ahmed of Banihal, Jammu and Kashmir, was targeted around 2.45 am near the footpath on the Sector 27-28 dividing road. Three unidentified motorcycle-borne men robbed him of ₹20,000 in cash.As Ahmed raised an alarm, the fleeing suspects lost their balance and crashed. The trio abandoned their motorcycle (registration number CH-01-AZ-6428) on the road and fled on foot. The Sector 26 police impounded the vehicle and are using its registration details to track down the owners.In the second incident, Rekha, a resident of Sector 40, was targeted around 12 pm near a private school in her sector. Two unidentified motorcycle-borne men snatched her gold chain before speeding away.The Sector 39 police have registered an FIR and are scanning local CCTV footage to identify the suspects.
