Mangaluru: District minister UT Khader Saturday urged Congress cadres to prepare immediately for all upcoming local body elections, strengthening party organisation from the grassroots at respective block and booth levels.Addressing the party functionaries at a District Congress Committee (DCC) general meeting, Khader said utmost care must be taken to ensure names of eligible voters are not left out of the final electoral roll for any reason, with mandatory booth-level verification.He said its frontline units, Youth Congress, Mahila Congress, Seva Dal and NSUI, should hold separate district-level conventions to carry out activities more effectively. He urged collective work to strengthen grassroots organisation and ensure Congress’s victory in all eight district constituencies in the 2028 assembly elections.Khader promised honest efforts to implement decisions taken during the Mangaluru cabinet meeting. To stay constantly in touch with party workers, he said he would visit the DCC office twice a month to receive appeals and address grievances.The meeting passed resolutions thanking the special cabinet meeting in Mangaluru for approving development projects worth Rs 32,611 crore and the significant decision to declare Tulu the second additional official administrative language. Another urged swift nomination of party workers to various vacant boards and corporations.KPCC working president Manjunath Bhandary, DCC president Padmaraj R Poojary, MLC Ivan D’Souza, former MLA JR Lobo, immediate past DCC president K Harish Kumar and others attended.Earlier, a meeting involved former corporators, those who contested previous Mangaluru City Corporation polls, and leaders of District Congress SC and ST units.
