Panchkula: As part of the Haryana Uday initiative, chief minister Nayab Singh Saini will interact with NGOs and representatives of chemist associations from across the state at Indradhanush Auditorium in Sector 5, Panchkula, on July 11 to strengthen public participation in the Drug-Free Haryana campaign.Deputy commissioner Satpal Sharma Thursday reviewed preparations for the programme and directed officials to ensure smooth arrangements. NGOs engaged in de-addiction and rehabilitation work, along with chemist association representatives, are expected to attend.Preparations were also reviewed by principal secretary to the chief minister, Arun Gupta, and special officer (community policing and outreach) Pankaj Nain during a video conference from Chandigarh.Nain said a series of outreach programmes are being planned across Haryana to raise awareness about drug abuse and encourage community participation in the anti-drug campaign. Besides the July 11 interaction in Panchkula, the CM will meet Haryana Police SHOs at Madhuban, Karnal, on July 18. He will also flag off awareness marathons in Yamunanagar on July 26, Faridabad on Aug 9, Rewari on Sept 6 and Mahendergarh on Sept 27.Gupta said the campaign aims to create greater awareness, especially among youth, about the dangers of drug abuse and mobilise collective efforts towards a drug-free Haryana. He emphasised the need for active participation from civil society organisations, community leaders and other stakeholders to make the campaign successful.
