Chandigarh: A road rage incident allegedly took a violent turn in Burail village, Sector 45, when a group of 10-15 men armed with sticks and sharp-edged weapons attacked a man, leaving him injured.The victim, Muddasim Imran, a resident of Burail, sustained injuries to his head and was admitted to Govt Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, for treatment. Based on his complaint, the Sector 34 police have registered a case and launched an investigation.In his statement to the police, Imran said he was riding to the Burail market when he encountered a road closure and took a U-turn. At that point, a man coming from behind allegedly asked him to move his motorcycle and began abusing him.When Imran objected, the man allegedly called his associates. Soon, 10-15 persons arrived at the spot on motorcycles and scooters and allegedly assaulted him with sticks and sharp-edged weapons.Police said the attackers fled after the assault. Passersby alerted the police through the emergency helpline 112, following which a PCR team reached the spot and shifted the injured man to GMCH-32. Doctors treated his injuries and administered stitches to a head wound.After receiving information, personnel from Sector 34 police station reached the hospital and recorded the victim’s statement. Police are now examining CCTV footage from the area to identify and trace the assailants.
