Silchar: A 65-year-old retired court employee was found dead near railway tracks at Syedbond on the outskirts of Hailakandi town on Sunday, with locals suspecting he may have fallen from a moving train while returning from Guwahati.The deceased was identified as Prahlad Chandra Das, a former employee of the Karimganj court and a resident of Ward No. 1 in Hailakandi.According to local sources, Das had travelled to Guwahati for personal work and was returning home when the incident occurred. They suspect he may have accidentally fallen from a moving train, though the exact circumstances of his death remain unclear.The incident came to light after local residents spotted the body beside the railway tracks and alerted police. A team from Hailakandi police and Railway Protection Force personnel reached the spot and recovered the body.Police also recovered a PAN card, voter ID card and a mobile phone from near the body. The body was sent to Hailakandi Civil Hospital for an autopsy.Police and RPF have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to Das’s death. The exact cause is expected to be established after the autopsy report and further investigation.
