Mangaluru: Actor Prakash Raj Monday called for an investigative committee to examine all decisions taken by the Election Commission of India (ECI) since 2023 and their consequences, and demanded that the SIR process be scrapped.Prakash Raj, who held a meeting of members of like-minded political parties and organisations here, also called for the ECI’s decisions, rules and procedures since 2023 to be brought before the Supreme Court.“If the SIR [special intensive revision]process is proven flawed and malicious intent is uncovered, invalidate those elections based on evidence. We will plead before the Supreme Court to do this. It must be investigated thoroughly before the files are destroyed or compromised,” he told reporters.“The SIR should be scrapped. Every decision, rule, and procedure undertaken by this Election Commission since 2023, along with their consequences, must be brought before the Supreme Court immediately, and an inquiry must be initiated,” he said.Questioning the ECI for allegedly centralising the entire SIR process, the actor accused the central govt of collecting voters’ phone numbers, deciphering their algorithms to decide what they eat, what they wear, and what they think. He also suspected it was a move to delete the names of those who are not likely to vote for the BJP.“The SIR process must be halted immediately. Freeze it and bring back the updated voter list published officially in Feb 2024,” he demanded, questioning the ECI, “Why do you have the right to strike off 13 crore voters?”He appealed to all opposition leaders to initiate impeachment proceedings against Gyanesh Kumar during the Lok Sabha session scheduled for Nov.“The opposition parties are speaking out, lawyers are raising concerns, affected citizens are speaking, we are speaking, and our farmers are voicing out. This movement, driven forward by Gen Z, will transform into a major struggle in the coming months. It will turn into another freedom movement,” Prakash Raj said.Referring to 1.8 lakh voters being marked under ASDDO (absent, shifted, duplicate, dead, others) in Karnataka, he said a social audit is being conducted across 100 polling booths.“Through this social audit, we are documenting every case with concrete proof. We are compiling comprehensive legal documentation for the courts. A massive demonstration of over 10,000 affected citizens also has been planned to be held at Jantar Mantar in Oct,” he added.
