Ahmedabad: With the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a red alert for July 31 and Aug 1, Ahmedabad Rural Police on Thursday issued a traffic advisory urging motorists to avoid unnecessary travel on the Sanathal-Bavla highway in view of forecasts of heavy rainfall.Police advised commuters to drive cautiously, maintain a safe distance from other vehicles and avoid crossing waterlogged stretches if the water level appears dangerous or conditions seem unsafe.Motorists have also been urged to check weather forecasts and traffic advisories before commencing their journey and to strictly follow directions issued by police and the district administration during the expected spell of heavy rain.The advisory stated that emergency response teams will remain on standby, and citizens should immediately contact the 112 helpline in the event of any emergency.Police appealed to the public to cooperate with authorities, saying compliance with the advisory would help ensure the safety of motorists and other road users during the anticipated heavy rainfall.
