Varanasi: The ‘Janmbhoomi Vadnagar to Karmbhoomi Kashi’ motorcycle yatra, taken out from Vadnagar in Gujarat under the Seva Sankalp campaign to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday on Sept 17, will conclude in Kashi on October 7.A public meeting of BJP national president Nitin Nabin is proposed at Jagatpur Inter College in Rohaniya as part of the concluding programme.A meeting of teams handling arrangements for the event was held at the BJP office in Gulab Bagh on Saturday evening. Addressing the meeting, BJP national secretary and state co-incharge Jagdish Patel said the yatra symbolised the coming together of the two ancient and historic cities of Vadnagar and Kashi.He said the party workers participating in the motorcycle yatra would start reaching Varanasi on the afternoon of Oct 6 and appealed to workers to welcome them in keeping with the city’s traditions. He also called upon party workers to make Nitin Nabin’s first public meeting in Kashi a memorable event.BJP Kashi region president Ashok Chaurasia said welcome points were being set up in all assembly segments. Public representatives and party workers would greet the riders with drums, flower showers and traditional honours.On the morning of October 7, the motorcycle riders will assemble at Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, where women workers of the BJP’s women’s wing will welcome them with tilak, bouquets and shawls. The participants will then travel by bus to Maidagin and proceed on foot to Kashi Vishwanath Dham.On the way to the temple, 51 women will lead the procession carrying kalash on their heads. The vessels will contain water collected from rivers in Vadnagar, which will be offered to Baba Vishwanath during jalabhishek.After the ritual, the riders will travel by bus to Gokuldham in Rohaniya and then join the public meeting at Jagatpur Inter College.BJP district president Ramsakal Patel, city president Pradeep Agrahari, public representatives and other office-bearers were also present at the meeting.
