Gorakhpur: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday directed officials to ensure tight security during Durga Puja and Dussehra celebrations, stressing that traffic movement must not be disrupted during the festivities. He asked the administration to coordinate with Durga Puja committees to ensure that their arrangements do not obstruct roads or inconvenience commuters.Chairing a review meeting with officials at Gorakhnath Temple, the chief minister said idols should not be installed on roads and that the height of idols and pandals should be kept within reasonable limits.He also assessed preparations for the upcoming festivals, the law-and-order situation, flood relief measures and the progress of development projects. The CM asked officials to maintain cleanliness during the festive period and prepare a comprehensive plan to manage crowds and ensure smooth traffic movement.Reviewing arrangements for idol immersion, the chief minister directed officials to ensure that DJ volume remained within prescribed limits. He asked the administration to identify designated immersion sites and ensure that idols were immersed in artificial ponds wherever these had been constructed.He also directed police and administrative officials to inspect immersion routes in advance and address any shortcomings. Encroachments along the routes should be removed, loose electrical wires secured and dilapidated electric poles replaced to prevent accidents. Officials were also asked to ensure proper crowd management and an uninterrupted passage for immersion processions.The chief minister reviewed river water levels and sought details of relief and rescue operations for people affected by floods and heavy rainfall. He directed officials to closely monitor river levels, keep all concerned departments on alert and ensure adequate assistance to affected families.Yogi also reviewed ongoing development projects in the district and instructed officials to complete all works within the stipulated time. He specifically directed them to expedite the construction of the road on the railway overbridge at Bhopa Bazaar in Chauri Chaura.
