Musi oustees to get 2 BHK houses: Minister

Hyderabad: Telangana revenue and housing minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy directed officials to allot 2 BHK houses to the families that lose their homes in Musi rejuvenation project. The minister said the state govt would not compromise in providing lawful compensation and necessary rehabilitation to those who gave up their lands.Srinivas Reddy held a review meeting on Musi project rehabilitation and land acquisition in the Secretariat on Monday.“The vision is to revive the Musi River as part of a broader goal to shape Hyderabad into a world-class city and turn the river into a hub for tourism, employment, and economic growth,” he said, explaining that the project is not merely a development initiative, but a commitment to provide future generations with a healthy, safe, and eco-friendly living environment. He added that people have suffered for decades due to pollution in the Musi River, and that the project has been conceived with the hardships faced by residents of the river basin during floods.“The state govt’s aim is to transform the Musi catchment into vibrant living spaces through flood control, water treatment, expansion of greenery, and the development of roads, parks, walkways, and recreational facilities,” Srinivas Reddy said.The minister made it clear that the Musi project is not against anyone and that the govt is proceeding in a way that ensures no injustice is done to any person. He stressed that no decision would be taken in the name of development at the cost of harming the lives of the poor, and that every step would reflect a humane approach.
