Chandigarh: Minerva Academy scripted history by winning the prestigious Helsinki Cup 2026 title, defeating Finnish powerhouse HJK 1-0 in a closely contested final on Friday.The victory marked sweet revenge for the Indian side, which had suffered a narrow defeat against HJK during the group stage of the tournament.The final began at a high intensity, with both teams displaying disciplined defensive structures and limiting scoring opportunities. Minerva controlled possession through effective midfield play and pressing, while successfully containing HJK’s counter-attacking threat. The first half ended goalless despite several promising moves from both sides.The decisive moment came in the 37th minute when Minerva forward Rimoson capitalised on a swift attacking move.
