Gurgaon: Residents can now pay property tax and complete related work over weekends, with the MCG announcing on Saturday that all citizen facilitation centres (CFCs) will remain open on weekends till June 30. The move comes ahead of the deadline for property owners to avail govt-backed interest waivers and rebates on pending tax payments.MCG officials said the decision was taken to help residents who are unable to visit corporation offices during regular working days, giving them additional opportunities to settle dues and avoid penalties linked to non-payment.Haryana govt has announced a 100% waiver on interest levied on pending property tax for all MCG-area property owners, along with a special 10% rebate on payment for the current financial year. To avail the benefit, owners must self-certify their property details on the no-dues certificate (NDC) portal and deposit all pending dues in full before June 30. Only those fulfilling both conditions will be eligible for the relief.MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya appealed to residents to take advantage of the scheme before the deadline. “The interest waiver and rebate are a significant relief, and the weekend centres are there to make the process as convenient as possible. There is no reason to delay,” he said.Tax department officials said many residents have dues pending over several years. “This is an opportunity to regularise their status without the additional burden of accumulated interest. We expect footfall at the CFCs to be high this weekend and the next,” an official said.Dahiya added that property tax revenue funds essential civic services, including road maintenance, sanitation, drainage, street lighting and parks, and urged residents to pay on time.
