Konark to Nalanda: Sanskriti Darshan Park set to open in Oct
The park is ready and will open in Indirapuram in Oct

Ghaziabad: Ghaziabad Development Authority’s thematic Sanskriti Darshan Park, showcasing the evolution of Hindu temple architecture, is ready and will open in Indirapuram in Oct. Spread over 4 acres and built at a cost of Rs 14 crore, the park features 21 life-size replicas of ancient temple ruins, including the Konark Sun Temple, Sarnath Stupa, Nalanda, Hoysala Temple and Ambernath Temple.According to a GDA official, the structures have been fashioned out of metallic and non-metallic waste. The park will also feature 10 ‘Wah Wah Vahans’ – models of deities’ mounts such as a tiger, owl, mouse and seven horses.

“The park will also have verses and shlokas written and engraved in Sanskrit. It is a blend of culture and nature and will attract and educate visitors, especially children who will go through the evolution of Hindu temple architecture over the centuries,” the official said.

The park features 21 life-size replicas of ancient temple ruins

The Sarnath Stupa, for example, is spread across 20 feet, measuring 20 feet high and 20 feet wide. The ruins of Nalanda University depicted in the park are spread across an area of 50 feet and are around 18 feet tall. The park will also feature replicas of the Martand Sun temple, Chalukya Shiva temple, Brihadeshwara, Dwarkadeesh temple and Masroor temple in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra.“We have included temples and structures of cultural heritage from all over the country which, in a way, will give visitors a glimpse of the country’s rich cultural and architectural heritage at one place,” the official said.

Officials said that the façade lighting will project thematic images, animations and videos onto real surfaces, adding to the park’s grandeur. An elevated walkway through the park’s sitting areas has also been created.

Noida’s Ved Van park has also been created along a similar theme.

So far, the City Forest in Karhera has been residents’ only option in the city for outings, picnics, runs, etc. A biodiversity park, however, is also set to come up near the Mahamaya Stadium in the future.
