Kolkata: A lawyer was injured and her husband assaulted after a recklessly driven vehicle collided with their car on SN Road Roy in Behala on Friday, Aug 21 around 8 pm.The incident occurred in front of the Merlin Jabakusum building while the victim was returning home from court by car with her husband. According to the complaint, the offending vehicle was being driven in a rash and negligent manner on a crowded road, endangering human safety before crashing directly into the complainant’s car.Following the collision, the lawyer’s husband stepped out of their vehicle to stop the offending car and address the driver. The confrontation quickly turned violent as the driver allegedly subjected the victim’s husband to filthy language, wrongfully restrained him, and physically assaulted him with fists and blows.Seeing her husband being assaulted, the lawyer came out of her vehicle to intervene, requesting the driver to behave politely and de-escalate the situation. However, the accused turned on her, unleashing a barrage of abusive language. The driver then allegedly outraged her modesty, physically attacked her, and threatened both the lawyer and her husband with dire consequences, including threats of sexual assault.The severe assault left the advocate injured as bystanders gathered at the scene. A formal complaint detailing the road rage, physical assault, outraging of modesty, and criminal intimidation has been lodged. Cops are investigating the matter and pursuing the driver of the offending vehicle based on the registered license plate number.Investigators are also currently reviewing CCTV footage from camera installations across SN Roy Road stretch to track down the registration number and route of the dark vehicle involved in the assault.
