Guwahati: The upcoming Rs 27,000-crore semiconductor facility of Tata Electronics at Jagiroad will receive govt incentives worth Rs 14,044 crore from the central and state govts, the assembly was informed on Thursday.Replying to a question by Raijor Dal MLA Akhil Gogoi, industries, commerce and public enterprises minister Bimal Borah said the capital support was approved to facilitate the establishment of the state’s first semiconductor manufacturing facility at Jagiroad in Morigaon district.“Centre will provide an incentive of Rs 10,255 crore, while Assam govt has sanctioned an additional Rs 3,789 crore to ensure the long-term success of the project,” Borah said in a written reply.The facility is expected to generate over 27,000 employment opportunities, including 15,000 direct jobs, making it one of the largest industrial employment generators in the Northeast.The plant will be capable of producing up to 48 million semiconductor chips a day using advanced packaging technologies such as Flip Chip and Integrated System in Package (ISIP).
