Gandhinagar: The state govt said on Thursday that industries in Vadodara and nearby districts of Central Gujarat imported raw materials worth Rs 42,830 crore and exported goods worth Rs 56,084 crore in 2025 under the Union govt’s advance authorization scheme.Under this scheme, when raw materials are imported from overseas, processed domestically, improved through value addition, and then re-exported, no duty is levied on the import of such raw materials.Citing data released by the director general of foreign trade, the state govt said in a statement that Vadodara and adjoining districts are emerging as a strong export hub, and the advance authorization scheme has played a significant role in this growth.The statement added that the benefits of the scheme will be discussed in detail during the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference for Vadodara. Between 2022-23 and 2024-25, exporters from Central Gujarat obtained 3,242 new advance authorizations, the govt said.Vadodara and districts of Central Gujarat have industries in sectors such as chemicals, petrochemicals, engineering goods, pharmaceuticals, and plastics. Vadodara is strategically located along Gujarat’s industrial corridor and enjoys direct and easy connectivity to major international ports, including Hazira and Mundra, govt added.
