Kurukshetra: A 35-year-old dhaba owner was electrocuted on Friday morning after coming into contact with a high-tension power line while clearing accumulated rainwater from the roof of his establishment on Jhansa Road in Kurukshetra.The victim, Rahul alias Bholu, a resident of Silver City on Sirsala Road, went to his dhaba following a day of heavy rainfall and strong winds that left several areas waterlogged. He climbed onto the roof to drain the stagnant water when he accidentally touched the high-tension wire passing close to the canopy.Hearing his cries, nearby residents rushed to rescue him. However, Rahul suffered severe electric shocks and burn injuries, dying at the scene before medical help arrived. He was the sole earning member of his family and is survived by his wife, a six-year-old son, and a four-year-old daughter.The deceased’s family has alleged gross negligence on the part of the electricity department. They claimed the high-tension line running close to the commercial property posed a known safety hazard, and that they had submitted repeated, unheeded complaints seeking its relocation.Krishna Gate police station SHO Baljit Singh said cops have taken possession of the body for an autopsy.
