Shimla: Himachal Pradesh BJP on Wednesday launched a statewide agitation against the Congress govt, accusing it of political vendetta, corruption, deteriorating law and order, and anti-people governance.Beginning from Shimla, BJP leaders and supporters gathered under the leadership of leader of opposition Jairam Thakur and BJP state president Dr Rajeev Bindal and marched peacefully to Sher-e-Punjab and then to CM’s official residence, Oakover, where they staged a protest and raised slogans against the state govt.Addressing the gathering, Thakur alleged that the Congress govt failed to deliver on its promises and was misusing the police and administration to target BJP functionaries through false cases. He claimed the govt’s performance in panchayat and urban local body elections reflected growing public dissatisfaction and asserted that the people would deliver a similar verdict in the next assembly elections.Dr Bindal announced that the party would hold protests every month in every assembly constituency and mandal until the Congress govt was removed from power. He accused the govt of failing women, youth, farmers, employees and pensioners, discontinuing welfare schemes, misusing democratic institutions, and increasing the financial burden on citizens through higher prices of essential services and commodities, including electricity, diesel and cement.
