Mangaluru: The coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi saw a reduction in the intensity of rain on Tuesday too. Hakladi in Kundapur of Udupi district received the highest rainfall of 189mm while Shirthady in Dakshina Kannada received 133mm in the last 24 hours.Barring minor rain-related incidents, including a landslide along the Kaikamba–Polali stretch, no untoward incidents were reported. The horticulture department reported crop damage across 6.6 hectares in Dakshina Kannada. One house was completely damaged due to heavy rain, while the PWD reported damage to 2.3km of roads.Dakshina Kannada received an average rainfall of 57.8mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours ending 8.30am on Tuesday. While Adyar in the district received 127.5mm rainfall, Maroli recorded 125mm rains. Meanwhile, Udupi received an average rainfall of 104.4mm of rainfall during the period.Amparu in Udupi received 178.5mm rainfall while Hebri, Hengavalli, Chittaru, Kuchhuru, Mala, Nada, Basruru, Koni, Nadpalu, Maravanthe, Molahalli and Hattiyangadi also received more than 150mm rains.Heavy rainfall until Tuesday morning led to waterlogging in low-lying areas in Kundapur Town leading to traffic disruptions. The Nandibettu and other places witnessed flooding. A landslide was reported at Renjala village in Karkala taluk.Health and family welfare minister UT Khader will be visiting rain-affected areas in Dakshina Kannada district on Wednesday. He will visit the house of the 53-year-old man, who was killed in a suspected elephant attack near the Muchiradka enclosure in Rekhya village under the Uppinangady forest range. Later, he will hold review meetings after visiting various places in Belthangady and Bantwal taluks.
