Rajkot: A 19-year-old woman from Keshod taluka in Junagadh district has filed an FIR against a Gram Rakshak Dal (GRD) jawan, accusing him of repeated sexual assault and blackmail over a year and a half.The accused jawan, Armaan Makwana, a resident of Utda village in Porbandar district, was arrested by Keshod police after the woman filed a case alleging rape and criminal intimidation under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and for aggravated penetrative sexual assault and penetrative sexual assault under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.According to sources in the police, the victim met Makwana in Dec 2024 at her cousin’s wedding. She was 17 years old at the time. The two stayed in touch via social media after the wedding. The woman alleged that Makwana later lured her to his home in Porbandar, where he raped her and captured photographs of her in a state of undress on his phone.Junagadh deputy superintendent of police Hitesh Dhandhliya told mediapersons that Makwana allegedly used these photographs to blackmail the woman, threatening to circulate them on social media if she did not gratify his sexual demands. This coercion allegedly led to repeated sexual assaults between Dec 2024 and April 2026 at Makwana’s and the woman’s residence.
